On November 20th 2025, the historical Sala dei Notari, in Perugia (Italy), hosted an unforgettable public lecture by JETSET P.I. Prof. Luciano Rezzolla, on the title “The irresistible attraction of gravity – A journey into black holes”.
The public lecture attracted a high number of attendees from the city of Perugia, with the Sala dei Notari reaching full capacity. The poster and a picture of the event can be found on the left.
The event received extensive local media coverage, with Prof. Luciano Rezzolla interviewed by the regional television Rai Umbria. The interview, in italian, is publicly available online at this link.
The evening event was presented by Dr. Massimiliano Trevisan and organized by the Ph.D. student Davide Panella (Perugia University and Copenhagen University) and Prof. Gianluca Grignani (Perugia University), with the aid Dr. Filippo Camilloni (Frankfurt University and JETSET) and Dr. Daniele Pica (INFN Perugia). The program had institutional support from INFN and the Department of Physics of the University of Perugia. The Department of Physics was recognised by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) as a Department of Excellence for the years 2023-2027.
Prof. Rezzolla also gave a PERAPS research seminar at the Department of Physics in Perugia on the next day. The focus was on binary neutron-star modelling, where he discussed how gravitational-wave signals can tightly constrain the neutron-star equation of state, sound speed, and possible phase transitions, as well as a correlation between the ratio of the energy and angular-momentum losses in the “long ringdown” portion of the post-merger signal.
The entire JETSET team congratulates with the P.I. Prof. Rezzolla!
